My Wish Upon a Star

When I was young I used to wish upon a certain star
To grant the wish I cherished most deep within my heart
Now that I've grown older my dreams have finally come true
My knight in shining armour's found; my knight in white is you.

I gazed at stars for nights on end
Searching for a sign
A sign a wish had been granted
A sign that it was mine.

You came along when I had given up on all my dreams
My faith in my bright star had been shattered so it seemed
But deep within the dark recesses of my beating heart
I never gave up hope I'd find the knight who'd be the one.

You came to me at twilight's dawn
I never realised
The sign that I was searching for
Was beside me all the time.

Oh I still wish upon that certain star 'most every night
To keep my heart full of hope and dreams, to make my star burn bright
And when I'm feeling down and lonely you are always there
I know that you, my knight in white, I know you'll always care.
