Doubts

Monotonous shadows and endless nights
Loom at my every step
Sharp, hungry teeth gnaw at my soul
Obscured and denied to my sight.
Demons with fiery eyes glowing red
Gaze vacantly but their desires can be read
Patiently waiting, mirroring your soul in their eyes
Torn and ragged, near death, but cannot die.
Silent screams fall upon deaf ears
Deaf, they can hear, but cannot see
The pain and agony as your soul's ripped asunder
Twisted and contorted, until it's angry as thunder.
Words, meant to be soothing apply a stinging balm
In its wake more shadows are left
Demons gather closer... has their patience a reward?
As down by my side kneels a man with a sword.
Will he place the killing blow upon my soul?
Or have my demons finally been conquered?
He is still kneeling, my soul is still bleeding.
And the demons, ever patiently, are waiting.
